The original office is Abingdon’s longest established family-run funeral directors.
The Carter family are true Abingdonians, stretching back 4 generations we know of. We have close links with all our local churches, cemeteries and reception venues, allowing our local knowledge to assist in ensuring all arrangements fit perfectly to our clients’ requirements.
Our office, based at 107 South Avenue, is our administrative home, with the practical side of the business taken care of at the Chapel of Rest in Abingdon’s Old Cemetery off Spring Road.

Funeral Directors in Wantage
The more recently opened Wantage office is pleased to extend the same level of professionalism and compassionate support as our colleagues in Abingdon.
Located in Newbury Street, the funeral directors in Wantage include Phil Riding, who joined the family business in 2013. Previously Phil was well known in the local area as the manager of the Topsport shop. Phil has taken to his new profession with ease and enthusiasm. His people-focused personality is clear to see and fits perfectly in with our family’s style and outreach.
Phil is supported by our Wantage Office Manager, April Thomson. April was previously assistant manager at South Oxfordshire Crematorium, but impressed Paul with her professionalism and friendly approach, resulting in her recruitment and seamless integration into the business. April is also Edward Carter’s memorial expert, running this very important branch of the business.
